Failand & Portbury CC

Hugo Hanchet scores a ton. All three sides are victorious.

The firsts won thanks to Hugos' magnificent hundred. Ed Humphreys chipped in with 58, but there was drama galore as the firsts looked on course for an easy victory, tumbled from 231 for 2 to 237 for 8. Paul Nice and Jeff Astle steadied the ship and saw Failand to victory with 9 balls remaining.

The seconds won and move up to second place in the table.
Run machine Chris Smith made yet another fifty and guided a below strength team to a famous victory. Ted Billing and Bernard Raines opened the batting.

** Hampset 258 for 7, F & P 1sts 259 for 8 *** + ** Failand 2nds 187 all out, YMCA 177 all out ** - **Thirds 205 for 8, Churchways 188 all out ** - ** Skinners Warriors had no game this week **

The thirds won.
Graham Grey with 77* and Jordan Bachelor with his first ever 5 wicket haul starred in a tense game on Sunday. 205 looked a decent enough score and Churchways lost wickets at regular intervals, but a couple of spirited partnerships took the visitors to within 17 runs in the 38th over. Jamie Fear bashed a quickfire 32 at the end, without which the victory may not have been.

John Skinners warriors were without a game.

** Outdoor nets will be every Tuesday, starting from as soon after 6.00pm as is possible from April 14th 2009 onwards.**
